Luanda – Angolan President João Lourenço received a message Tuesday in Luanda from his counterpart of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Félix Tshisekedi.
The bearer of the letter was the special envoy of the President of the DRC, Cristophe Apala Pene, who was received at the “4 de Fevereiro” International Airport, behind closed doors, by the Angolan statesman.
It is believed that the message, the content of which has not been revealed, contains information relating to the preparation of the meeting between the presidents of the DRC and Rwanda, Paul Kagame.
Last week, the Angolan statesman received his counterpart Paul Kagame, who agreed to meet with the President of the DRC, Félix Tshisekedi, on a date and place to be announced.
Paul Kagame's trip to Luanda came just under two weeks after that made by his DRC counterpart, who also met with President João Lourenço.
At the end of that meeting, it was announced that Tshisekedi had agreed to meet with Paul Kagame to discuss the diplomatic crisis between the two neighboring countries and the rebellion in the DRC.
President João Lourenço was appointed by the African Union (AU) as a mediator to deal with the issue of relations between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda, including the aspect related to the M23. PA/MCN/ADR/TED/DOJ
