Luanda - Questions about the work carried out by the Administrative Court of the Southern African Development Community (SADCAT) were at the center of the audience that the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, granted to the president of this judicial institution in the region, Sanji Monsangi.
The head of the judiciary of the SADC region is in Luanda to chair the 1st Conference and 17th Plenary of SADCAT, which began on Monday.
Sanji Monsangi, speaking to journalists at the end of the meeting, said that the moment served to thank the President and the people of Angola for hosting the meeting of that body.
He said that the Angolan statesman supports the work of the court.
SADCAT has jurisdiction to adjudicate and decide labour disputes between the SADC Secretariat or any of its institutions, as an employer, and an employee.
This includes a dispute concerning an employee's contract of employment or the conditions of appointment of the official concerned.
The mission of SADCAT, as explained by Sanji Monsangi, is to hear and judge the complaints of the SADC secretariat, when someone at the SADC secretariat wants to appeal the decisions made by the executive secretary of the regional organization.
SADC is a Regional Economic Community composed of 16 Member States namely, Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, eSwatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, United Republic of Tanzania. AFL/ART/DOJ
