Luanda – Angolan president João Lourenço, received Monday in Luanda the special envoy of his Kenyan counterpart, William Ruto, with whom he discussed issues related to the peace process in South Sudan.
Speaking at the end of the audience, Charles Keter said he came to Angola along with the special envoy of the President of South Sudan, with the mission of briefing the Angolan Head of State on issues related to the peace process in the Republic of South Sudan, which is formally due to begin discussions next week in Kenya.
The diplomat explained that there is currently a revitalized 2018 peace agreement which is being implemented and will end at the end of this year.
He also said that the President of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, has asked his Kenyan counterpart to lead the negotiation process between the coalition government and all the forces that are part of this government, as well as all the others that are not signatories to this agreement.
The President of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, paid early a 48-hour working visit to Angola at the invitation of his Angolan counterpart, João Lourenço.
