Luanda - The Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, on Monday in Luanda, Mambu Sita Sumbo, as special envoy of the President of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
The emissary of Félix Tshisekedi, appointed this year as high representative of the Head of State to monitor the Luanda Roadmap and the Regional Economy, at the end of the hearing, did not make a statement to the press.
In the diplomatic sphere, the governments of Angola and the DRC have maintained regular contacts, where issues of interest and also related to the situation of peace, security and stability in the eastern region of that country are addressed.
Last August, the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, held talks in Kinshasa, DRC, with his counterpart Félix Tshisekedi, as part of the ceasefire signed days earlier, under Angolan mediation.
On 30 July, Angola announced that the DRC and Rwanda had reached an agreement for a ceasefire, a decision that comes after a meeting in Luanda.
Foreign Minister Téte Antonio said on the occasion that the agreement aims, in the long term, to silence the weapons in eastern DRC, which has been at the mercy of armed groups that, according to Kinshasa, are supported by Rwanda. AFL/VIC/DOJ
