Luanda - Eight new ambassadors handed over their Letters of Credence to the Angolan president João Lourenço on Wednesday in Luanda, authorizing them to represent their countries to the Angolan state.
In separate ceremonies, João Lourenço accredited the ambassadors of Kenya, Joyce Khasimwa M-Maitsi, and Turkey, Muhamment Mustafa Çelik, with resident status.
The ambassadors of Greece, Antónios Papadopoulos, Lithuania, Rasa Jankauskaité, Finland, Leena Orvokki Viljanen, Burundi, Evelyne Butoyi, Botswana, Phemelo Mbi Rankoro, and Saudi Arabia, Ali Saad Alkahtani, also handed over their legal instruments to the Head of State as non-residents.
The presentation of Letters of Credence formalizes the start of an ambassador's duties in the host state.
It is a formal document sent by a head of state to his counterpart in the receiving country.
After the protocol ceremony, the Angolan statesman spoke privately with each of the accredited diplomats to discuss issues related to cooperation AFL/VIC/DAN/AMP
