Luanda – Angolan president João Lourenço received Wednesday in Luanda the FRELIMO candidate for the general elections in Mozambique, Daniel Chapo, with whom he discussed issues related to the elections in that country.
Mozambique is holding general elections on October 9, 2024, a significant event on the country's political scene that includes presidential, legislative and provincial assembly elections.
Speaking at the end of the audience, Daniel Chapo said that in the political context Angola and Mozambique continue to work towards socio-economic development for the well-being of the citizens.
More than eight political parties will be contesting the elections in Mozambique, most notably FRELIMO (Mozambique Liberation Front), RENAMO (Mozambican National Resistance) and MDM (Mozambique Democratic Movement).
Since Mozambique's independence on June 25, 1975, FRELIMO has ruled the country. AFL/VIC/AMP
