Luanda - The Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, Wednesday in Luanda, expressed interest in a solid and dynamic cooperation with the Republic of Senegal, capable of taking advantage of the real potential of both countries.
The Angolan Head of State was speaking during official talks with a delegation from Senegal, headed by the President of this African country, Macky Sall, who is on an official 72-hour visit to Angola at the invitation of his counterpart.
Shortly before witnessing the signing of cooperation agreements in the areas of oil, trade and tourism, president Lourenço advocates the creation of a business environment that facilitates the mobilization of companies from the respective countries.
He said that Macky Sall's visit showed the importance and urgency of retaking and normalizing contacts between Angola and Senegal, after a long interregnum.
President Lourenço hopes that cooperation will evolve in the areas of agriculture, transport, oil and gas, culture, hotels and tourism, finance, industry and trade, essential areas to boost economic and business cooperation between the two countries.
On the occasion, the Angolan head of state urged the African continent to boost its agricultural potential, with a view to countering food shortages resulting from the crisis caused by Covid-19 and by conflicts in Africa, the Middle East and Europe.
He advised the continent, in this complex global context, to act in a determined manner, with well defined policies, to make up for the deficit in food production that is being registered in the world.
He added that the situation requires the African countries to pay special attention to protect them as much as possible from the economic problems that are being observed in the major world economies.
