Luanda - The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, on Thursday urged greater attention to school sports, as it is the hotbed of federated sport.
The head of state intervened at the ceremony of the inauguration of the new Minister of Youth and Sports, Rui Falcão Pinto de Andrade, appointed on Wednesday to replace Palmira Barbosa.
João Lourenço advised a better preparation of Angolan athletes, anticipating good results in the challenges that came, such as the next African Championship of Nations (CAN).
Similarly, President João Lourenço recommended attention to the maintenance and management of sports infrastructure built in the country.
João Lourenço also considered that the country recovers the splendor in modalities such as basketball, and maintain the results in handball, particularly female, without disappointment for other modalities.
In his intervention, he said that culture and sport are important to the life of any nation.
Infrastructure situation
Speaking to the press, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Rui Falcão, is proposed to conduct a real survey of the situation of sports infrastructure in the country.
Minister spoke of the need to work on a “infrastructure management profile”, establishing partnerships in some cases, meeting the large volume and resources necessary for their maintenance.
It valued the exhortation of the mass sports massification, meeting the positive results achieved, as was 'The Locksmiths' (Football Tournament), as well as establishing policies to relaunch school sports.
Rui Falcão also referred to the need to demand from the supply of paid preparation programs.
Named Wednesday by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, Rui Falcão was secretary for information from the MPLA Political Bureau and replaces in the position Palmira Barbosa.
Rui Falcão already held the positions of deputy to the National Assembly, governor of the provisions of Benguela and Namibe, as well as national director of the Department of the State Secretariat of Physical Education and Sports, among others. JFS/SC/ADR/DOJ
