Luanda - The President of the Republic of Angola, João Lourenço, on Tuesday expressed feelings of regret for the death of the Vice President of Malawi, Saulos Chilima, victim of an aviation accident.
In a message addressed to his Malawian counterpart, Lazarus Chakwera, the Head of State expressed that it was with deep sadness that he learned of the tragic aviation accident that killed Saulos Chilima, which occurred on Monday.
'At this time of deep consternation at the loss of this illustrious son of your nation, I want to address to Your Excellency, on behalf of the Angolan Executive and myself, our sincere condolences, which I ask you to extend to the bereaved family and friends of the failed', he stated.
For the sad event, President João Lourenço expressed his wishes of solidarity at this painful moment for Malawi.
The President of Malawi, Lazarus, confirmed this Tuesday, in a brief message to the nation, the death of Chilima and his companions after the accident of the military plane in which they were traveling.
The crashed aircraft was located completely destroyed around a promontory in the Chikangawa forest.
The president explained that, following unsuccessful efforts by the armed forces to contact the plane's crew, the Presidential Office indicated that the aircraft left Lilongwe on Monday morning and was expected to land less than an hour later at Mzuzu International Airport, in the north. from the country.
