Cacuaco - President João Lourenço inaugurated this Friday, in Luanda, the General Hospital of Cacuaco, named “Heróis de Kifangondo Hospital”, with capacity for 300 beds, 150 of which are dedicated to pediatrics.
Accompanied by First Lady Ana Dias Lourenço, the Head of State began by watching a promotional video about the hospital, unveiled the inauguration plaque, as well as taking a guided tour of the hospital.
The hospital unit, which will employ more than a thousand professionals, offers outpatient services in a single block, in the specialties of chemotherapy, oncology and imaging services.
Built on a six-hectare plot of land, it has a main building consisting of emergency, logistics and laboratory blocks, block B with two floors is reserved for external consultations, while block C, with the same number of floors, is dedicated to hemodialysis and patients rehabilitation.
The unit also has five peripheral Oncology buildings, a cafeteria, support for the technical area, morgue and laundry.
The works, which were carried out by the construction company Vamed, began in November 2021, and cost the Angolan State €139,216,000.
With this infrastructure, with a useful life of 50 years and benefiting from bi-annual rehabilitation, there are 21 health units in Cacuaco, including 6 medical centers, 13 health posts and a municipal hospital.
It should be remembered that last April the General Hospital of Viana Bispo Emílio de Carvalho, with capacity for 356 beds, was inaugurated by the Head of State, João Lourenço.
