Luanda – Angolan head of state João Lourenço inaugurated Thursday in Luanda a meat product factory, whose investment is estimated at around USD25 million.
João Lourenço, who was accompanied by government officials, toured some areas of the factory, having received information on the functioning of the infrastructure.
Located in the Luanda-Bengo Special Economic Zone (ZEE), in Viana, on the outskirts of the Angolan capital, the unit called "Quinta de Jugais" aims to produce charcuterie, based on the processing of pork and poultry.
In a first phase, the factory, under Angolan law, will fill the production deficit of this category of products in the Angolan market, currently supplied, to a large extent, with imports.
With an installed processing capacity of 800 tons of meat per month, the unit will invest, at a later stage, in exporting its products to neighbouring countries.
So far, the meat processed at the factory is imported, which should be replaced by national raw material.
In April 2018, Portuguese investors started the construction of the delicatessen factory in Luanda, planning to produce products under the Quinta de Jugais brand.
