Luanda – Angolan president João Lourenço has sent a congratulatory message to his Zimbabwean counterpart, Emmerson Mnangagwa, congratulating the people and the country’s government on its 44 years of Independence marked on April 18.
"On this day of such important historical significance for your nation and all others in our region, I join myself to you and your compatriots in celebrating this historic feat that honors us as Africans and demonstrated to the world the irreproachable strength of our solidarity, essential characteristic of the fraternal ties that unite us", the Angolan Head of State said in the letter.
President João Lourenço underscored that the April 18t represents an opportunity to remember and honor the memory of those who made sacrifices without hesitation so that “we can live free today”.
This precious memory, expressed the President, “constitutes a common good that we must preserve and value, as the foundation of our identity and intangible heritage to be passed on to future generations".
Angola and Zimbabwe have cooperated in political, diplomatic and economic fields since 1982.
