Luanda – Angolan President, João Lourenço, on Thursday expressed his congratulations to the winners of the 2023 SADC Media Awards, that includes two Angola Press Agency (ANGOP) journalists.
The winners of the award – in the three main categories: Written Press, Radio, and Television – were announced Thursday during the opening ceremony of the 43rd SADC Heads of State and Government Summit, happening in Luanda.
The Press category was won by the ANGOP journalists Francisca Augusto and Venceslau Mateus, authors of the report "Benguela boosts economy with infrastructure in the Lobito Corridor", which obtained 74.13 points, out of 100 possible.
Journalist Luís Mamana of the Angola National Radio (RNA) won the Radio category prize with the report "Mbanza-Congo World Heritage makes the people of Southern Africa proud", with 74.46 points, out of a possible 100.
The professional Ernesto Bartolomeu - Angola Public Television (TPA) - was distinguished with the report "Canal do Cafu: Combating drought in southern Angola", which obtained an average of 71.71 points, out of 100 possible.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the high level SADC meeting, President João Lourenço also congratulated the winners of the regional Spelling Contest.
“I express my wish that we may work with greater commitment so we can have a more and more peaceful, developed, competitive and integrating organisation”, stressed the Angolan Head of State, who took over the one-year rotating presidency of SADC during the same top level regional gathering.
This is the first time the Angola Press Agency (ANGOP) wins this SADC prize in the Press category.
