Luanda – Angolan President, João Lourenço, on Monday congratulated the people and the Congolese government on the celebration of the 64th anniversary of the independence of the democratic republic of Congo (DRC), marked on Sunday, June 30th.
According to the press services of the Presidency of the Republic, a letter sent to his counterpart, Felix Tshisekedi, the Head of State expressed recognition “for the efforts undertaken by the sons and daughters of this nation, who put all their commitment and tenacity into achieving independence”.
He expressed the desire that, together and with the support of brotherly countries and other international partners, all the work that has been carried out could be continued, with aHead of States congratulates DRC on the 64th anniversary of independence Luanda - President, João Lourenço, congratulated, on Monday, the people and the Congolese government on the celebration of the 64th anniversary of the independence of the democratic view to achieving the great aspirations of the Congolese people for peace, concord, progress and well-being of all citizens.
He reaffirmed Angola's willingness to work in a coordinated manner with the DRC, both bilaterally and regionally, towards intensifying actions that lead to the achievement of national and regional stability objectives, and projects of mutual interest.
DRC became independent from the Kingdom of Belgium on June 30, 1960.
A member of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), it is bordered to the north by the Central African Republic (CAR) and South Sudan, to the east by Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania and Zambia, and to the south by Zambia and Angola and to the west with the Atlantic Ocean. VIC/CF/DOJ
