Luanda – Angolan Head of the State João Lourenço sent a message to President Denis Sassou Nguesso, of Congo, on Thursday, congratulating him on the 64th anniversary of his country's National Independence, which is celebrated August 15.
According to the official Presidency of the Republic account on social media, the Head of State highlights the important contribution of the Republic of Congo to the creation of conditions that boost progress and development in the Central African region, where the action of the President Sassou Nguesso has been relevant for promoting initiatives in favor of peace and stability.
"I take this opportunity to tell Your Excellency that the Government of the Republic of Angola and I remain committed to making efforts to intensify bilateral contacts and strengthen relations of friendship and solidarity between our respective peoples, with a view to projecting actions that strengthen cooperation, with tangible results", the Angolan Head of State wrote.
The republics of Angola and Congo formally established cooperative relations in 1976, with the signing of a friendship and cooperation treaty.
Over the years, the two states have been cooperating in the most diverse areas, with emphasis on political, diplomatic, defense and security, economic, commercial and financial, as well as technical and scientific, technical and cultural. SC/CF/DOJ
