Luanda - The Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, congratulated on Thursday, Paul Kagame on his re-election to the position of President of Rwanda on the 15th of this month.
In a message to which ANGOP had access, João Lourenço hopes to continue working on strengthening friendly and cooperative relations between Angola and Rwanda.
The President wishes the same in relation to the ongoing process for the re-establishment of peace, concord and harmony among all the peoples of the Great Lakes region.
Paul Kagame was re-elected for a fourth term with 99.18% of the votes, extending his leadership of Rwanda's destinies for another term.
The only opposition candidates allowed to participate in this year's elections, Frank Habineza and Philippe Mpayimana, received 0.53% and 0.32% of the vote, respectively.
In power since 2000, Kagame thus secures his fourth term as President of the Republic. In the previous elections in 2017, he achieved 99.79% of the votes. ART/DOJ
