Luanda - The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, on Wednesday congratulated his Algerian counterpart, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, on his recent re-election to the position.
In a message, ANGOP had access to, President Lourenço said he is certain that this electoral result reflects the confidence that the Algerian people place in the leadership of Abdelmadjid Tebooune, to face the challenges of consolidating the economic achievements achieved, from the perspective of the development of that nation.
“I believe, Your Excellency, that your work will meet the expectations of stability, progress and social well-being of the Algerian people”, wrote the Angolan statesman.
President João Lourenço took the opportunity to express his interest in continuing to work with the Algerian Head of State, promoting the deepening of the excellent friendship and cooperation relations existing between the two African countries.
“Please accept, Your Excellency, my best wishes for your personal well-being and success in fulfilling your noble mandate”, concludes the Angolan President.
Regarding bilateral cooperation, Angola and Algeria maintain historical relations of cooperation, which were lost during the period of the struggle for independence.
Over the years, the two African countries have maintained strong and friendly diplomatic relations, which were strengthened thanks to constant dialogue, strategic cooperation and partnerships in various areas of mutual interest.
Both nations work together to promote regional stability, face challenges and achieve common goals.
In 2011, in Algiers, several agreements were signed to boost bilateral cooperation.
The agreements are related to the areas of scientific research in higher education, media, veterinary health, trade, culture, as well as youth and sports.
The two countries decided to move towards concrete cooperation in the fields of security and public order, telecommunications, information technology, hotel, tourism, woman promotion and environment.
