Luanda - Angolan head of State João Lourenço Monday congratulated the people and the Government of Côte d'Ivoire on the celebration of the sixty-third anniversary of the independence of that African country on August 7.
“I would like to take this opportunity to stress the excellent relations of friendship and cooperation between our two countries”, said the Angolan Head of State in his message published on the Presidency’s official page.
In the message sent to his counterpart Alassane Ouattara, João Lourenço states that Angola and Côte d'Ivoire have a crucial role to play in the bilateral framework and in the collective progress of Africa.
In 1958, Côte d'Ivoire was proclaimed an autonomous Republic within the French community, but it did not achieve the full independence until 1960. AL/ADR/CF/NIC
