Luanda – President of Republic of Angola João Lourenço held a telephone conversation with his Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) counterpart Félix Tshisekedi on Thursday to discuss the peace process in the eastern region of the central African country.
Both statesmen focused mainly on the M23 forces' cantonment, in accordance with the understanding reached under the mediation of the Angolan President, according to the Presidency’s Official Website.
In addition to chairing the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR), the Angolan head of State is also mediator of the African Union (AU) in Rwanda-DRC crisis.
Angola's National Assembly (AN) has recently approved the deployment of a Unit of Support Contingent for Peacekeeping Operations of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), within the framework of the peace and security process in the DRC. SC/ADR
