Luanda - The Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, on Friday sent a condolence message to his counterpart from Côte d’Ivoire, Alassane Ouattara, on the death of former President Henri Konan Bedié, which took place on Tuesday.
According to a press release from the Presidential Palace, João Lourenço considers that the death of Henri Konan Bedié "leaves an irreparable void among the Côte d’Ivoire people".
The President of the Republic highlighted that the former Head of State gave all his energy and experience aiming to build a safe country, with solid foundations.
João Lourenço emphasized that the action of Henri Konan Bedié started the path of progress, victory and well-being of the people of Côte d’Ivoire.
The Angolan statesman asked President Alassane Ouattara to extend to the bereaved family and friends of the former Head of State the condolences expressed on his behalf and that of the Angolan Government.
Henri Konan Bédié was President from 1993 to 1999, replacing Félix Houphouet-Boigny on December 7, 1993, after his death.
