Luanda - The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, has been in New York, United States of America, since the early hours of Monday, to participate in the high-level events of the 79th session of the Annual Assembly of the United Nations.
In New York, the Angolan statesman has scheduled intense diplomatic activity, of which the speech in the general debate, on the day the speeches begin, on Tuesday, stands out.
For Monday, João Lourenço will speak at the Future Summit, which began on Sunday, at the UN headquarters, with the adoption of a Pact for the Future.
The agreement, adopted by consensus by the UN General Assembly, aims to “boost the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), such as inclusive and fair societies and the common good of humanity”.
The Angolan Head of State is expected to participate in several other multilateral events, such as a meeting of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), and a summit of the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACP).
His agenda is joined by a series of audiences and meetings of a diplomatic nature, which will allow the Angolan President to dialogue with several Heads of State and other leaders in sectors such as the economy and politics.
President João Lourenço will also meet with the Secretary General of the United Nations, the Portuguese António Guterres. ART/MRA/DOJ
