Luanda – The Head of State, João Lourenço, and his Ghanaian counterpart, Nana Akufo-Addo, on Wednesday in New York City, United States of America (USA), analyzed the strengthening of cooperation between the two countries.
The two statesmen met while participating in the 79th United Nations General Assembly.
Angola and Ghana, which share a common history in the struggle for national independence, signed the first legal and cooperation instruments in 1976.
The visits of the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, to Ghana, in August 2021, and the visit of his Ghanaian counterpart, Nana Akoufo-Addo, to Angola in 2019, demonstrate both countries' interest in deepening and expanding, at the highest level, the bonds of friendship.
In February this year, Angola and Ghana signed, in Luanda, nine memorandums of understanding, aiming to expand bilateral relations.
The legal instruments, signed during the 6th Session of the Angola-Ghana Bilateral Cooperation Commission, includes the sectors of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Culture and Art, Tourism, Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Education, Export and Import, as well as exchange of Television and Radio Broadcasting.
