Windhoek - Angolan Head of State João Lourenço arrived in Windhoek on Thursday, where he will attend the inauguration of Namibia's president-elect Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah on Friday.
Later in the evening, João Lourenço will attend a state dinner at the Presidential Palace hosted by the outgoing President of Namibia, Nangolo Mbumba, in the company of other statesmen.
The ceremony is scheduled for 10am local time on Friday and will be preceded by a speech by outgoing President Nangolo Mbumba, the presentation of the highest national order, the Welwitshcia Mirabilis, to the President-elect, and the handing over of the symbols of power by Presiding Judge Peter Shivute.
Seventy-two-year-old Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah won the seventh general election last November with 57% of the total votes cast by two million voters and will be the first woman to hold the office of President of Namibia and the fifth stateswoman to lead the country's destiny.
She succeeds the late Father of the Nation Sam Nujoma, Hifikepunye Pohamba, the late Hage Geingob and the outgoing Nangolo Mbumba. VC/ART/DAN/AMP
