Muscat – The Head of State of Angola, João Lourenço, arrived in the city of Muscat, capital of Oman, on Thursday morning, for a state visit to this Sultanate in the Middle East region, at the invitation of the Sultan of Oman, Haitham bin Tariq Al Said.
According to the two-day visit schedule, João Lourenço will be officially received at the Royal Palace, where the anthems of both countries will be sung, followed by 21 cannon salutes and the presentation of the respective delegations.
Subsequently, delegations from both countries will begin official talks, at the same time that President João Lourenço and Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said will have a moment for a detailed assessment of bilateral relations.
For the second and last day of the visit, the agenda includes the visit of the Angolan Head of State to the National Museum of Oman, which will be the last activity of his official visit to the Sultanate.
The National Museum is Oman's top cultural institution, displaying the cultural heritage of the Sultanate from the earliest presence of human occupation on the Oman Peninsula to the present day.
Bilateral cooperation
In May this year, as part of strengthening bilateral cooperation, the two states signed, in Luanda, three agreements in the areas of finance, agriculture and manufacturing.
It was the first visit of an official delegation from the Sultanate of Oman to Angola, which generated expectations regarding closer relations of friendship and cooperation between the two States in the areas of agreements and other areas of mutual interest.
