Mascate – The President of Angola, João Lourenço, on Friday visited the National Museum of Oman, where one finds the cultural heritage of this Arab nation, documenting the early occupation of the territory by the Omani people.

In the National Museum, João Lourenço received explanations about the artefacs exhibited in the museum.
Possessing a long coastal line, Oman’s history is very much linked to the sea.
In the third millennium B.C Omani traders were notable sea merchants, and during the Islamic rise the Omani were part of a broad commercial network tha spread from China to East Africa, which was then the longest maritime route.
In the past four centuries the Omani established two maritime empires that connected with Persian Gulf, the makran coast and East Africa.
As a national institution with global scope, the museum is engaged in making sure that the Omani cultural heritage be recognised and appreciated nationally and internationally.
The National Museum of Oman is host o 7000 artefacs, and it offers 33 digital experiences.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, first day of his visit, João Lourenço attended the official dinner in his honour hosted by the Sultan of Oman, Haitian Bin Tarik Al Said. The moment was marked by the exchange of gifts that celebrate the friendship between the two peoples.
Still on Thursday, delegations of the two governments held a meeting and initialled four legal instruments turned to the reinforcement of bilateral co-operation.
This is the memorandum of understanding between the Angolan Ministry of Finance and the Investment Bank of Oman that establishes the framework for strategic cooperation to strengthen economic and financial ties between the two countries.
They also signed the Agreement for the Acquisition of Shares in the Catoca and Luele diamond mines in Angola and the Partnership Agreement between the Angolan company Endiama and Maden Investment Group, a subsidiary of the Omani Sovereign Wealth Fund.
In addition to the results that this mission to the Middle East produced, the signing of the memorandum of understanding for the Exploration of Cooperation Opportunities in the Energy sectors between the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas of Angola and the Massadr Energy Group also stand out.
In May this year, as part of the strengthening of bilateral cooperation, the two States signed, in Luanda, three cooperation agreements in the financial, agricultural and manufacturing fields, which marked the start of cooperation.
It was the first visit of an official delegation from the Sultanate of Oman to Angola, generating expectations regarding closer relations of friendship and cooperation between the two States in the signed areas and in other fields of mutual interest.
