Kigali – Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço and the Rwandan president Paul Kagame, on Sunday in Kigali (Rwanda) discussed issues related to peace consolidation and security process in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
The Angolan statesman arrived in Kigali early Sunday afternoon for the inauguration ceremony of the President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, who won the presidential elections held in that country in July.
As a result of the mediation efforts of the Angolan President, in his capacity as African Union (AU) Peace Champion, Rwanda signed a ceasefire agreement with DRC on July 30.
Rwanda has been accused by the Congolese authorities of supporting the M-23 rebel movement which is waging a civil war in the east of the DRC, creating a degree of instability in peace and security in that region. AFL/VIC/AMP
