Luanda - The president of the ruling MPLA João Lourenço meets on Monday in Luanda, with the first secretaries of the Party Action Committees (CAP) to strengthen the bases and improve the party's position in society .

The information was disclosed Friday by the secretary of the Political Bureau for Organization and Mobilization, Gonçalves Muandumba, adding that the meeting, follows the process of the mandates' renewal of the party's grassroots and that it will also assess the organizational and functional state of the MPLA structures.

Strengthening grassroots

The politician added that one of the goals is to continue to strengthen the party's structures to make them more modern, dynamic and active, underscoring that the MPLA’s strength is the organization, as it goes ahead to permanent updating and preparation for future challenges.

He stressed that the grassroots are the main protagonists of this meeting, highlighting that the first meeting of its kind was held in 1977, by the then president António Augustinho Neto.

The politician added that the party president, João Lourenço, is the proponent of the event, promoting his first major meeting with the grassroots at national level, whose main aim is to improve the MPLA's position inside the society and lead the main political, economic and social transformations in the country.

Communities

"The meeting will also emphasize the need for activists and their base structures to pay greater attention to the debate and approach to community problems to find pragmatic solutions for each community", Muandumba said.

Muandumba highlighted that more than 2,500 CAP first secretaries are expected to participate in this activity, which will take place under the motto “All for the Bases, All for the Communities”.

In February this year, at the launch of the political agenda, President João Lourenço guided and highlighted the need for reorganization and revitalization of the party's structures at all levels.

In March this year, the MPLA vice-president, Luísa Damião, said, at the official launch of mandates' renovation process thatthe act "has a profound strategic meaning", as "it would  share the socialization of the party's main actions and guidelines. FMA/VIC/AMP
