Huambo - The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, highlighted on Wednesday the importance of the award that UNESCO granted to the Angolan State, in recognition of the valences of Angola's national culture.
The award was presented to the Angolan Head of State, this Wednesday night, by the Minister of Culture, Filipe Zau, during a cultural gala held in the province of Huambo, in allusion to January 8, a date dedicated to the National Culture Day.
The award consists of a certificate of classification of the 'Sona - drawings and geometric figures on sand in the representative list of the material cultural heritage of humanity', which represents the culture of the Tchokwe peoples, the eastern region of the country that encompasses the provinces of Lunda-Norte, Lunda-Sul and Moxico.
On the occasion, João Lourenço said that 'the award has to do with the Tchokwe culture, but also with the culture of all of us'.
'We are working together with UNESCO so that, in the near future, other arts are recognized as material heritage of humanity, as is the case with the city of Mbanza Congo (Zaire province). Therefore, this award is for all Angolan people,' he said. AFL/DOJ
