Luanda - The President of the Republic Angola, João Lourenço will travels Friday to the province of Cunene, for a three-day working visit, whose agenda will be dominated by the meeting of the Local Governance Council.
The Local Governance Council brings together the 18 provincial governors and ministers to address the socio-economic situation of each of the country's regions and assess the progress of social impact projects, in order to correct any constraints.
According to the press services of the Presidency of the Republic, after his arrival, in the early afternoon, the Head of State will hold a meeting with Governor Gerdina Didalelwa, which will be followed by the inauguration of the “Simione Munune” General Hospital.
The new hospital unit replaces the previous one, partially destroyed by one that burned down in 2020.
The construction of the new Ondjiva General Hospital, in the Naipalala III neighborhood, budgeted at 52 million euros, began in 2021.
The hospital will have Paediatrics, Obstetrics, Endoscopy, Ophthalmology, Stomatology, Emergency, Surgery, Simple and Computerized X-Ray (CAT), Oxygen Factory, Hemodialysis, psychiatry, as well as a welcoming room for patients' relatives, among other support.
On Sunday, the last day of the visit, the President will travel to the municipality of Cuvelai, where he will check the progress of the construction works of the Ndué Dam, one of the five structuring projects to combat the cyclical drought in this province, which is expected to benefit more than 50,000 families and the watering of 60,000 head of cattle.
