Luanda – Angolan president João Lourenço on Thursday called for better economic structuring for the production of necessary goods and creation of more jobs in the country.
João Lourenço made the call at the swearing-in ceremony of the new Minister of Economy and Planning, Victor Hugo Guilherme, and the Secretary of State for Environment, Yuri Walter de Sousa Santos.
According to the Angolan statesman, the struggle is to organize the country's economy, diversifying sources of income and seeking to produce more goods and services, reduce imports and increase exports.
The Angolan president spoke of the need to structure the economy to guarantee more jobs for citizens, particularly young people, underlining the importance of protecting the environment by world's governments, since there is unanimous agreement that the planet is threatened by the excesses produced by industries.
The Angolan Head of State defended the need to adopt measures and policies to defend the planet and humanity.
The newly appointed Minister of Economy and Planning on his turn, said will top the organization of the economy, in compliance with Strategy 2050, the National Development Plan (PDN) and the recently approved 2024 State Budget.
"The priorities are set, starting with agriculture, to generate income and jobs, following up on the ongoing programs aimed at developing the country," Guilherme said.
Appointed on Wednesday, Victor Hugo Guilherme replaces Mário Caetano João, while Yuri Walter de Sousa Santos replaces Abias Moma Huongo. JFS/VC/ADR/AMP
