Luanda - The Cape Verde Head of State José Maria Neves expressed Monday his deep respect by the determinant contribute of Angola towards the end of the Apartheid regime, the release of Nelson Mandela, the establishment of a multiracial government in South Africa and Namibia independence.
While speaking in a solemn extraordinary plenary session of the National Assembly to honor him, José Maria Neves praised his deep respect and thanks to the martyred Angolan people due to the huge sacrifices, advancing that Angola wrote in this way an exciting and exemplary page of the recent history of our continent".
The President of Cape Verde recognized that Angola's sacrifice was worth it and changed the face of Southern Africa, decisively contributing to promote a climate of development in the region, with repercussions at the level of Africa, in its entirety".
The visiting president highlighted that this solidarity, generous, fearless and submissive Angola should serve as inspiration for other African States, especially when the enterprise might be seen as largest or impossible as at that time it looked like to be the fight to break out the racist regime in South Africa.
The official recalled that Angola also had to fight for the conquer of its internal peace that definitively achieved in 2002 advancing that this fact relaunched the hope in a climate of peace, national understanding and collective commitment with the national reconstruction.
