Luanda - Angolan head of State João Lourenço Friday created 23 Ministerial Departments, including two new Ministries in the structure of the State apparatus.
The new Ministries, created by Presidential Decree, are those of Fisheries and Marine Resources and of Environment.
In his last term, following the 2017 elections, the Ministry of Environment had been scrapped and merged with that of Culture and Tourism, while Fisheries joined Agriculture.
As for Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources, the Head of State appointed Carmen Sacramento Neto, while Ana Paula Chantre Luna de Carvalho now takes the helm of the Ministry of Environment.
Ana Paula Chantre Luna de Carvalho, who was sacked as governor of Luanda, has previously held, among other positions, those of minister of Planning and Housing (2017-2020) and Secretary of State for Regional Planning (2021).
Among the new figures of the Government, stress goes to the former Angolan handball international Palmira Leitão Barbosa, who is in charge of Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Marcy Cláudio Lopes is the new minister of Justice and Human Rights, taking over from Francisco Queiróz, leaving the Ministry of Territorial Administration to Dionísio Manuel da Fonseca.
On the other hand, the former secretary of State, Carlos Alberto Gregório dos Santos, went to the Ministry of Public Works, Urbanism and Housing.
While the former secretary of State of Telecommunications, Mário Augusto da Silva Oliveira, is the new minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication.
