Luanda - President João Lourenço called for the 24th of the current month (Oct), an extraordinary meeting of the Council of the Republic.
According to a statement from the Press Services of the Presidency of the Republic, the sole focus of the session will be information on the General Program of Celebrations of the 50th Anniversary of National Independence, to be marked next year.
The aforementioned Program was approved on Thursday at an extraordinary meeting of the Council of Ministers.
It contains the actions to be developed throughout the national territory and overseas, from November of the current year until December 2025, aiming for a dignifying celebration.
With the festivities of the 50th anniversary of national independence, which will take place under the motto "Angola 50 Years: Preserving and Valuing all Achievements, Building a Better Future", the aim is to praise the historical journey of the Angolan people, since the 11th of November 1975, all achieved in the military, political and diplomatic domains.
It also aims to recognize the achievements reached by the Angolan people, in sports, social and cultural spheres, the values of national unity and cohesion, democracy, patriotism, Angolanness, humanism and solidarity.
The Council of the Republic is a collegial advisory body to the Head of State.
