Luanda – The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, was invited to participate in the investiture ceremony of the President of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, taking place on June 1 this year.
The invitation was delivered, Wednesday, to Angola's permanent representative to the United Nations, Francisco José da Cruz.
The bearer of the invitation was the permanent representative of El Salvador to the United Nations, Egriselda López.
On the occasion, Ambassador Francisco José da Cruz congratulated his counterpart on the significant victory of the re-elected President of El Salvador, which, according to the diplomat, represents the will of Salvadorans expressed at the polls.
In turn, Egriselda López expressed interest in the Republic of Angola being represented, at the level possible, at the investiture ceremony, to take place on June 1st of this year.
The Salvadoran diplomat expressed her satisfaction with the establishment of bilateral relations and her country's interest in exploring other areas of interest for both States.
The President of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, was re-elected on February 5th of the current year, with more than 85% of the votes.
Angola and El Salvador established diplomatic relations on September 18, 2023, in New York.
The signatories of the agreement were the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, and his counterpart from El Salvador, Alexandra Hill Tinoco*.
