Luanda – Angola’s President of the Republic João Lourenço spoke on Tuesday afternoon on the phone with his counterpart from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Félix Tshisekedi.
According to a note sent to ANGOP, the conversation focused on the security situation in Eastern DRC and the state of bilateral relations.
The situation in Eastern DRC is characterized by fighting between the DRC Armed Forces (FARDC) and the M23, allegedly supported by Rwanda.
The latest fighting has worsened the humanitarian crisis, resulting in more than 100,000 people being displaced and raising fears of the conflict taking on a regional dimension. ART/DOJ
