Luanda - The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, expressed today in Accra, regret for the death of businessman and member of the Economic and Social Council, João Macedo, which occurred this Tuesday in Portugal, victim of a car accident.
"With deep regret, I received in Accra the tragic news of the passing of João Macedo, a distinguished member of the Economic and Social Council and a prominent investor in the branch of Agro-livestock in Angola," the Angolan Head of State wrote in a message of condolence.
In the letter, President Joao Lourenço said that his investments were in line with the strategy to diversify the national economy, defined by the government.
"A man of ideas and work, the deceased leaves us prematurely, at a time when the Economic and Social Council, as a consultative body of the President of the Republic, continued to need his invaluable contribution, particularly in matters linked to improving the performance of agriculture throughout its value chain, from production to distribution on the national market and in the export segment," he said.
For the Angolan President, the unexpected departure of the advisor and producer João Macedo, at the peak of his dedication to the cause of Angola, leaves his family, friends and companions in action saddened. "To all I express my deepest condolences," the statement said.
