Huambo - The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, confirmed, this Saturday, the construction works of the Dondi University Campus, in the municipality of Cachiungo, Huambo Province, which is scheduled for completion in September this year.
The Head of State, accompanied by the First Lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Lourenço, carried out a guided tour of the facilities, financed by the State, followed by a visit to the Evangelical Congregational Church of Angola (IECA), where he attended a thanksgiving service.
The mission church is located in the space adjacent to the university campus, which has the capacity to accommodate more than two thousand students. The university campus, built in the Dondi Mission of the Evangelical Congregational Church in Angola (IECA), in the municipality of Cachiungo, is budgeted at around five billion kwanzas.
The investment is considered one of the great gains of the Christian association, which has been in existence for 143 years, for in addition to training thousands of young people, it ensures jobs for hundreds of people.
The construction, which began in July 2022, takes place in a space of more than five kilometers, where all the basic services that a Higher Education Institution needs will operate.
The plan includes the installation of an agricultural field, which will help with cultivation and support part of the boarding school. The infrastructure includes, among
other compartments, 40 classrooms, a boarding school for 1,500 students, an administrative area and a cafeteria.
The institution will welcome students in nursing, theology, arts and manufacturing courses. It is focused on entrepreneurship and innovation in the areas of agriculture and livestock.
The institutionalization of Higher Education in the Dondi Mission is an old dream of the missionaries, taking into account that the expansion of the church created the need for a men's training center.
In 1914 the Mission had created the Institut Curie of Dondi, attended by many young people.
