Luanda – Angolan president João Lourenço said Monday that General Abreu Muhengo Ukwachitembo "Kamorteiro" carried out a meritorious action in favour of the pacification and development of the country.
In a message of condolences to the family of the deceased general, the Commander-in-Chief of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) refers that it was with deep regret that he learned of the death of Abreu Muhengo Ukwachitembo "Kamorteiro".
The Deputy Chief of General Staff for the Operational Development Area of the FAA died at dawn Monday (28), at the Military Hospital of Luanda, victim of illness.
President João Lourenço stresses, in the message, that the name of the deceased general "is forever indelibly linked to permanently end to the military conflict in Angola".
Abreu Muhengo Ukwachitembo "Kamorteiro" was, on behalf of UNITA, one of the signatories of the Peace Accords for Angola, on April 4, 2002.
"From that time on, holding positions of leadership in the Angolan Armed Forces, he carried out a meritorious action in favour of the peace and development of the country", says the document.
The Angolan statesman expresses to the bereaved family his deep condolences, also extensive to Kamorteiro’s friends and companions of struggle.
