Luanda - The Angolan head of state, João Lourenço, said Monday in Luanda that with the integration of Mara Baptista Quiosa in the Council of the Republic, "the president himself and the country will benefit from her advice".
João Lourenço made the statement at the swearing-in ceremony of this new member of the presidential advisory body, adding that the newly appointed member will bring to the Council what she has learned from the communities while working as a provincial governor.
"I believe she will bring the wishes, aspirations and advice on how the President of the Republic should meet those wishes and aspirations. So I can only wish her success in her work and a very warm welcome to this community of advisors," Lourenço said.
Mara Baptista Quiosa, who was recently appointed vice president of the MPLA, has served as governor of the provinces of Bengo, Cabinda and Cuanza-Sul, among others.
The Council of the Republic of Angola is a collegial advisory body that advises the President of the Republic on matters of national interest.
According to the Constitution of the Republic of Angola, the Council of the Republic is chaired by the President of the Republic and includes various personalities by virtue of their functions and others appointed by the Head of State himself. AFL/VIC/TED/AMP
