Luanda - President Joāo Lourenço appealed this Tuesday to families and other social players to guarantee proper protection of children.
On his Facebook official page, the Angola Statesman wrote, in connection with the World Day for the Prevention of Child Abuse, that no nation can prosper without taking care of its most precious future, the child.
"Today, June 4th, World Day for the Prevention of Child Abuse, let us, families, foster homes, schools, churches and law enforcement officers, be aware that we must guarantee proper protection to this vulnerable being", urged President João Lourenço.
The Head of State wrote that "there must not be any justification for any harm against the child."
About the date
The United Nations (UN) established June 4th as World Day for the Prevention of Child Abuse since 1982, to remind that millions of children and adolescents continue to suffer physical, mental or emotional violence.
The date also serves as an incentive to renew the international community's commitment to ending all forms of violence against children.
Millions of children are still victims of sexual, physical, neglect and psychological violence at home and at school.
According to the UN, in many parts of the world, they are victims of other types of abuse: child marriage, child labor, female genital mutilation, trafficking, kidnappings, murders or are used as child soldiers.
