Luanda - The Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, discussed, on Wednesday, with the president of the People’s Assembly of Cuba, Juan Esteban Lazo Hernández, cooperation between the two countries.
Speaking to the press, the deputy director for bilateral affairs at the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Angel Villa Fernandez, highlighted the broad potential for cooperation between the two countries in various areas.
He said that, alongside traditional areas, Angola and Cuba are evaluating the possibility of developing the pharmaceutical biotechnology industry, with reciprocal advantages.
In this sense, he added that the parties are evaluating the possibility of transferring technology to Angola or sending technicians to implement the pharmaceutical biotechnology industry.
Angel Villa Fernandez declared that the two countries are also preparing the meeting of the Joint Cooperation Commission.
Likewise, the diplomat informed that, from January to December of next year, activities are planned in his country relating to the celebrations of the fiftieth anniversary of Angola's independence, coinciding with the same period of relations between the two countries.
Angola and Cuba maintain cooperative relations in the areas of Security, Education, Health, Transport, Public Works, Construction, Oil, Sports, Culture, Tourism and Agriculture.
The Cuban parliamentary leader is in Angola for a three-day working visit. JFS/SC/DOJ
