Luanda – Angolan president João Lourenço, Thursday received the Venezuelan ambassador to Angola, Marlon Jose Penha Labrador, with whom he discussed the state of relations between the two countries.
Speaking at the end of the meeting, the Venezuelan diplomat said the meeting also served to say goodbye to the Head of State, at the end of his five-year mission in Angola.
The Venezuelan diplomat also praised the Angolan statesman's role in pacifying the Great Lakes region and Africa in general, adding that he informed the President of the Republic about the preparations for the presidential elections in his country, scheduled for July.
Since 2005, Venezuela has maintained full diplomatic relations with the African continent, where Angola is seen as one of the most important partners.
Relations between the two countries were boosted by the visit of the then President of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez to Angola in August 2006. JFS/MCN/ADR/DAN/AMP
