Angolan President authorises  awards for general officers

uanda - The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the Angolan Armed Forces, has authorised awards to 113 general officers and admirals with the Military Medal for Length of Service - 1st Class.

In Presidential Decree 22/25, of 31 January, João Lourenço bases his decision on the arduous sacrifices made by the Angolan people in the struggle to achieve and preserve national independence.

The document emphasises the participation and invaluable contribution of his sons in the military ranks during the clandestine struggle and the armed struggle for national liberation.

The decree considers it of great importance to pay special recognition to the general officers who carried out their military service in an exemplary manner, thus leaving a lasting legacy for the nation and the Angolan Armed Forces.

Amongst the vast list of recipients of the Military Medal for Length of Service, 1st Class, were retired generals João António Santana Lungo, Artur Santos, Gouveia de Sá Miranda, Henrique Futi and Paulo de Sousa Alves dos Santos.

The same medal was awarded to retired admiral João Pedro da Cunha Júnior, retired lieutenant generals António Joaquim Fernandes Dolisi, António Mateus Júnior de Carvalho de Dilangue and Alfredo Tyaunda. ART/DAN/DOJ
