Luanda - The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, said Wednesday in Ankara that Angola plans to strengthen economic, financial and business relations with Turkey, in order to establish the bases for strategic cooperation.
Speaking at the Turkey-Angola Business Forum, the Head of State said it is intended to attract more investors to the country, who would bring financial capital, advanced technology and knowledge, in order to quickly and efficiently increase the production of goods and services.
One of the aims, he said, was to reduce the unemployment rate in Angola, improve the citizens' income and diversify the range of export products.
The aim is also, according to João Lourenço, to boost partnerships between businesspeople and investors in the two states, which last Tuesday in Ankara signed an agreement for reciprocal investment promotion and protection, to give greater confidence and legal guarantee to Turkish investors in Angola and Angolans in Turkey.
According to the President, Angola offers opportunities in several areas, particularly agri-livestock, aquaculture, fishing, mineral resources, as well as the manufacturing industry.
The country also offers investment opportunities in trade, energy and water, construction, transport, telecommunications, hotels and transport.
He said that Angola was particularly interested in receiving investments from Turkish companies, in the areas of industry producing construction materials, tractors, tools and other agricultural equipment, fertilisers and seeds, car and motorbike assembly, electronic products and household appliances, textiles, clothing and footwear and pharmaceuticals.
