Luanda - The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, granted, on Monday, an audience to the Vice Mayor of the city of Hampton, United States of America, James Gray.
He is part of a delegation of 24 members of the Tucker family, known for its influence and legacy in the city of Hampton, descendants of Angolans from the province of Malange.
Vice Mayor James Gray was accompanied by his wife Dana Gray, as well as Dr. Wanda Tucker and her brother Vincent Tucker.
During the meeting, several initiatives were discussed that aim to strengthen cultural and economic ties between the States United States and Angola.
One of the main points of discussion was the proposal to create a Sister City partnership between Hampton, in Virginia and Malanje, in Angola.
This partnership aims to promote cultural exchanges that bring the Angolan and American people even closer together, allowing for better understanding and collaboration between the two nations.
In addition, the delegation explored opportunities to increase U.S. investment in Angola. They also discussed strategies to encourage U.S. companies to invest in various sectors of the Angolan economy, thus contributing to economic development and job creation in the country.
However, the U.S. Embassy says it is committed to supporting these initiatives and believes that collaboration with the between Hampton and Malanje will bring significant benefits to both communities.
The Tucker family has been visiting Angola frequently since 2022. It has maintained contacts with the Angolan authorities within the framework of the strengthening cultural, social and economic ties between the Hamptons and Angola, promoting collaboration and exchange between the two regions.
Establish strategic partnerships in areas such as education, culture, health and urban development and the exchange of experiences between the Hamptons and Angola are part of the Tucker family's interests. AFL/ART/DOJ
