Luanda – The Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, this Monday received in an audience, in Luanda, a delegation of members of the Guinea Bissau Parliament, during which it was analysed the prevailing situation in the west African country, following a recent coup attempt.
According to an official online platform of the Presidency of the Republic, in his capacity as provisional chairman of the Organisation of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), the Angolan statesman received from the MPs, representing different Guinean political parties, information on the current situation in Bissau.
During the audience, João Lourenço, appealed for good sense and harmony among the various political sensibilities in Guinea Bissau.
In the morning of this February 01, Guinea Bissau was awakened with the news of a coup d’État attempt, led by a group of armed men, without military uniforms though, who forced their entry into the main building of the Guinean Government, where, on the occasion, the President was chairing a Cabinet meeting.
