Dundo - Six hundred and 49 citizens of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), who intended to settle illegally in the province of Lunda-Norte, especially in the diamond mining areas, were arrested by the Border Guard Police during a micro-operation.
The information was given Friday in Dundo by the head of department of the Office of Institutional Communication and Press of the National Police in Lunda-Norte, Domingos Muanafumo, who emphasized that the offences were registered at the Cuango, Lóvua, Caungula, Chitato and Cambulo border posts.
He said that after detention and compliance with some administrative procedures, the immigrants were repatriated to their country of origin.
The source said that during the operation aimed at combating illegal immigration, illicit diamond exploration and trafficking, fuel smuggling, trafficking in human beings and organs and environmental crimes, 7,700 liters of smuggled fuel were also seized, which were destined for the DRC.
After the seizure, he continued, the fuel was handed over to the General Tax Administration (AGT), as faithful custodian.
