Moçâmedes - The Police Command in Namibe needs 12,000 agents to approach the services to the population and prevent crime.
The information was provided by the Commander of the National Police in Namibe, commissioner Sebastião Mendes, when responding to concerns of members of civil society, during a meeting promoted by the corporation.
He said that efforts were being made to bring the services closer to the citizens, in order to improve their performance and maintain order and tranquillity in Namibe.
On the other hand, Sebastião Mendes appealed to the youth to know how to solve their problems, having always the dialogue as the solution point and not the violence, which often culminates with the destruction of public property.
During the fourth quarter of 2020, Namibe registered 563 crimes of diverse nature, against 587 of the same period of the previous year.
A total of 416 citizens were arrested, 14 less than in the same period of the previous year, including 35 minors, picked up under the criminal prevention regime.
