Luena - The Attorney General of the Republic, Helder Pitta Groz, admitted this Friday, in Luena, Moxico, the possibility of investigating the allegations of the Angolan Football Federation (FAF), which will have run out of Government funds to support the national team at AFCON'2023, in Côte d'Ivoire.
Hélder Pitta Groz stated that he will wait for an investigation from the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MINJUD) to dictate the actions of the Attorney General's Office (PGR).
Meanwhile, the new minister of Youth and Sports, Rui Falcão, admitted last Friday, in Luanda, the possibility of hearing the Angolan Football Federation (FAF), about the alleged lack of financial support from the State to the National Team for the AFCON'2023, held in Côte d'Ivoire.
Rui Falcão stated that he will get in touch with the process and only then decide.
The issue of the alleged lack of support arose when, on the eve of the continental tournament, the president of the FAF, Artur Almeida, told the press that the National Team had qualified for the competition with borrowed funds.
The FAF leader also added that until the AFCON'2023 kick off the federation had received only a fifth of the amount approved for the event, where Angola reached the quarter-finals.
In reaction, MINJUD released a statement, read by the institution's general secretary, Cátia Teixeira, contradicting the position of the national football governing body.
She informed that for the AFCON'2023 operation, one thousand million, four hundred and seven million, five hundred and sixteen thousand, seven hundred and eight kwanzas, and eighty-four cents were made available, in addition to other additional amounts before and during the event.
The FAF complains that MINJUD, on the eve of the AFCON edition, did not provide monetary values and that the national team prepared with borrowed values.
The PGR ends today a working visit to Moxico, during which it will attend the annual review meeting of the activities carried out by the PGR in the eastern region.
