Uíge – A total of 70 criminal cases of corruption and embezzlement, mostly involving public managers in northern Uíge province, are currently under investigation by the Attorney General's Office (PGR), the local Public Prosecutor, Isaac Eduardo, has said.
Eduardo recognized that there are a very low number of cases sent to the Court, due to the lack of magistrates and procedural instructors.
“We have certain municipalities that only have one instructor and in two others, for this reason, they are unable to quickly deal with the high number of existing processes”, he lamented.
Recently, the local Public Prosecutor was reinforced with nine magistrates going from 11 to 20. With this increase, Eduardo said, an improvement in the PGR's performance in the region is expected to take place.
